The lodge is fully equipped but do bring your own food and drink, there's a very small grocery store in Jasper which is about 30 minutes from the cave or stop in a bigger city on your way for more selections.  Keep in mind, it's a dry county so bring your liquor with you.

PLEASE LET JOANN KNOW IF YOU’D LIKE TO SCHEDULE THIS

Our gift to you is a tour in our Yamaha Viking 6 seater UTV on the trails on our 256 acres leading to vertical caves, sinkholes, seasonal waterfalls, a unique feature we call the Indian Encampment and other beautiful overlook views, just book it with Nate upon your arrival.  Please note:  this is not a UTV for guests to use, Nate is the only person allowed to drive it.  Nate will give you and the other members of your party a ride.  There's a weight limit and steep mountains so do not expect everyone in your party to go together.  Also, the UTV ride is our gift to you, there's no additional fee unless you feel that your guide deserves a tip, however, if the UTV is in the shop for repairs, the weather is inclement or the trails are in an unsafe condition due to weather, there will be no reimbursement or alternative provided.

Keep in mind that the cave stays a cool 65 degrees year round and the floor is damp and even wet in areas from the living cave which drips water so bring shoes with traction and warm clothes like hoodies, ugh boots and such to wear during your stay.  However, the bedrooms do have radiant heaters that stay on and keep them toasty warm for sleeping comfort.

Watch the weather in Newton County  and be aware that if roads are closed due to inclement weather, you'll need to reschedule or we'll refund your stay.  Also be aware that you'll be crossing a low-water bridge across the Little Buffalo River.  If you see we have had abundant amounts of rain prior to your stay, be sure to contact Nate, or me, Rayne (870) 365-9785, about coordination and assistance across the river, or if it's impassable, you might have to reschedule or refund your stay.  Keep in mind that there are times where the River comes up during your stay (or any inclement weather) and you might end up staying an extra night or two till it clears up or the water level goes back down, if this should happen, your extra stay is on us!

Following are the driving directions. First, you can find the cave pinned on maps.google.com but reception is sketchy and google sends folks up and over really rough mountains sometimes.  Sooo, navigate to Jasper, AR first, remember, this is the nearest  town with the grocery store, gas station and places to eat.   You might not have reception once you get out in the boonies, so either screen shot these directions or print them off.  Again, Do Not follow google maps, they've been known to lead folks astray..

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM JASPER (if you’ll use your odometer, these directions will work great):

• From Jasper, turn onto Hwy 74W and go 1/2 mile to turn left or south on Hwy 327 toward Parthenon.
• Drive thru the little community of Parthenon (don't blink or you'll miss it) and head up the mountain (you'll cross Shop Creek just past the Parthenon post office which is a little trailer, from this point to your next turn it is 8/10ths of a mile). Turn right on Murray Rd which says CR8610.  You'll see an old sign here that says Beckham Creek Cave.
• Drive 2.7 miles to 170, which you'll only know by a row of mailboxes on your right (yeah, welcome to the country!)  instead of following the county road as it curves left and steeply up the mountain, just stay straight (or take the right fork, you'll see a sign that says KATOG).
• Drive 3/10th of a mile (Note: This is the stretch of road where you'll cross the concrete low water bridge over the Little Buffalo River) to a fork in the path, go right to stay on CR 8641 and travel a 100 or so feet to the Katog Buddhist retreat.   Once you see the Katog Rithrod Buddhist retreat, you'll think the road ends there, but keep driving on this county road and it will turn right just in front of their entrance.
• Drive 1/10th of a mile and turn left at our sign, follow for 3/10ths of a mile to our gate and enter our property.
• You'll come to a fork after the helicopter pad, the road to the right takes you to the caretaker's quarters, feel free to honk and let them know you've arrived, they'll come up, and left takes you up to the cave, (Note: you'll  be going up a very steep concrete driveway at the end of this road, be brave, any car can make it - it's part of the adventure :-)

Cancellation Policy

This retreat is a very small group, please make sure to cancel by 7/26 to receive 1/2 of your fee back, after that date, there are no refunds.
